Abstract:

PURPOSE: To nearly uniformize the timing of the end of weft insertion independent of the kind of weft, to eliminate the weft insertion miss and improve the operation rate and quality by measuring the period from the release of a weft from a checking pin to the start of real flying of the weft and controlling the weft insertion force according to the measured result.

CONSTITUTION: A checking pin 8 is separated from the circumference of a drum 7 to release the weft W wound round the surface of said drum 7. At the same time, the weft insertion flying is started by the ejection of high- pressure air started a little before the release of the weft. The start of the flying of the weft W is delayed from the release of the checking pin 8 by the frictional force between said weft W and the air stream or, in other word, by the fluctuation of the dragging force applied to the weft W. The time delay is measured by a controller 5. The operation timing of a solenoid valve 19 corresponding to the time lag is selected from the measured result and a preset table to control the weft insertion force in such a manner as to nearly uniformize the timing of the end of weft insertion independent of the kind of the weft W.
