Title:
CONVERSION COATING ON SILICON CARBIDE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2858633
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the high-temp. resistance against sulfidation, chlorination and fused ash-deposition by introducing ceramics and pack mix in a retort, heating the retort in an inert gas atmosphere, forming a multilayered chromium carbide conversion coating on the ceramics keeping at a high temp. for a specified time period.
CONSTITUTION: Ceramics can be silicon carbide, silicon nitride, boron carbide and titanium carbide. A pack mix comprises, by wt.%, 20% metal source, 3% activator and 77% inert filler, the metal source being a member selected from the group comprising Cr and Cr-Al, and being a member selected from the group comprising source metal, pure metal powder and alloy powder. The activator is a member selected from the group comprising AlCl3, NH4Cl, AlBr3 and NH4Br. The inert filler is a member selected from the group comprising Al2O3, ZrO2, CaO, MgO and SiO2. Deoxygenated argon or the like is used as an inert gas. The heating process at the retort is at 1,250°C and for 30 hours.
