Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To splice a new conveyor belt to an existing conveyor belt one after another when the overall length of belt is to be elongated easily and quickly without requiring a skillfulness of the operator.
SOLUTION: A conveyor belt 10 is of laminate structure composed of a reinforcing core layer 12 and cover rubber layers 14 and 16 covering the core layer 12, and in the part where joining is to be made later, an initially joining layer 20 to form a stepped joining surface 22 for a later joining process upon exfoliation is previously embedded by means of vulcanizing adhesion so that a step is formed with such a strength as enabling exfoliation and also belt working. When necessity for belt joining is generated, the initially joining layer 20 is exfoliated by heating so that a joining surface 22 in step form is formed, and at this joining surface 22, vulcanizing adhesion is made with another joining surface 22 of the mating party.
