The cordon is composed of a core material 4 made of a tape- formed elastic material such as rubber and cordon bodies 2, 3 sewn to the core material at the parts near both edges of the body in a state covering both edges of the core material 4 from the front and back sides. The cordon bodies 2, 3 are sewn to the core material 4 while longitudinally stretching the core material 4 to effect the longitudinal shrinkage of the core material together with both cordon bodies 2, 3 by the elastic recovery of the material after sewing and form the objective cordon 1 having shirred (shrunk) texture. Shirring (shrink) can be applied almost uniformly on the cordon according to the shrinkage of the core material 4 without generating kink caused by the interference of the bodies 2, 3 to easily ensure high quality.
