To provide a core-sheath type conjugated polyester fiber hardly causing a reduction in fiber strength and shrinkage after heat treatment to provide a woven/knitted fabric or the like having good dimensional stability, and hardly causing a reduction in adhesive power and deformation even when the obtained product is used in a high-temperature atmosphere to enable the fiber to be used in various kinds of applications, and to provide the woven or knitted fabric using the fiber at least as a part thereof.
The core-sheath type conjugated polyester fiber includes a polyester A consisting essentially of an alkylene terephthalate unit and having a melting point of 220C, and a polyester B having a melting point 30C lower than that of the polyester A, and is obtained by arranging the polyester A at the core part and the polyester B at the sheath part. The mass ratio (core:sheath) of the core part to the sheath part is (40:60) to (80:20), and the strength retention after dry heat treatment and the shrinkage, represented by the formula: strength retention (%) =(G/M)100; and shrinkage (%) ={(MS-GS)/MS}100 are 60% and 20%, respectively.
