Abstract:
PURPOSE: To make it possible to obtain excellent color development efficiency regardless of the kind of color developing material and to prolong the life of a color development-color erasure cycle by providing a conductive substance layer of a specific surface area with a stripe shape or a netlike shape on the surface of a transparent substrate.
CONSTITUTION: The conductive substance layer 43 is formed on an ITO glass 41a, and an insulation layer 44 is provided thereon to manufacture counter electrodes. On the other hand, a color development material 42 is vapor- deposited on the ITO glass 41b to manufacture a color development electrode, and the counter electrodes and the color development electrode are laminated through an electrolyte 45. The conductive substance layer 43 whose surface area with the stripe shape or the netlike shape is 10m2/g or above, is preferred to be 50-5000m2/g, is preferred, in particular, to be 300-4000m2/g, and the electrical conductivity is preferred to be 10-2Ω-1.cm-1 or above, is preferred, in particular, to be 10-1Ω-1.cm-1 or above. When the surface area is 50m2/g or below, the color development efficiency is reduced in the case of using it to a dimmer at 1V or below.
