Abstract:

To provide a counter suppressing disappearance of count data.

The counter 1 storing count data CD1, CD2 with the number of printed sheets counted includes an FRAM (R) 23; an HDD 33 provided in a separate location from the FRAM (R) 23; and a main control part 11 storing the count data CD1, CD2 in the FRAM (R) 23 and storing backup count data BCD1, BCD2 in the HDD 33. The main control part 11 writes the backup count data BCD1, BCD2 of the HDD 33 in the FRAM (R) 23 when determining that the count data CD1, CD2 of the FRAM (R) 23 are abnormal.
