Abstract:
To provide a crosslinked cellulosic membrane suitable for separating a macromolecular liquid (e.g., protein liquid).
The crosslinked cellulosic membrane has a crosslinked polymer formed from a cellulosic polymer and a crosslinking agent by crosslinking reaction using an acid catalyst. In one concrete embodiment, the cellulosic polymer contains a crosslinkable hydroxyl group part in a considerable amount and the crosslinking agent can discharge electrophilic ions into an acidic solution and the electrophilic ions can be reacted with the hydroxyl group part of the cellulosic polymer to crosslink the cellulosic polymer. A good result is obtained by using a polyfunctional N-alkyloxy compound as the crosslinking agent.
