PURPOSE: To release an operator from the trouble of developing a picture from a menu bar in a top-down manner each time, to eliminate operational confusion concerning the selection of a function picture and to improve operability for CRT monitor.

CONSTITUTION: At the CRT monitor display device to monitor the state of an objective signal to be monitored/controlled by displaying the state by the desired function picture when displaying the signal on the screen of a CRT 3, when the signal name part of the aimed signal in the function picture displayed on the CRT screen at present is hit by a mouse 1, a skip window displaying the names of the plural function pictures is displayed on the CRT screen and when the part of the desired function picture name to be displayed in this skip window is hit by the mouse, the function picture corresponding to the name is displayed on the CRT screen.
