To propose a small and lightweight cutter shaft driving mechanism of a gear cutting machine.
This cutter shaft driving mechanism 1A is provided with a cutter shaft driving motor 2, a vertical guide rail 3 for guiding a linear roller vertically mounted with a fixed space with a gear cutting machine frame, and a cutter head 4 elevatable along this vertical guide rail 3. A wave reduction gear 5 is mounted at a vertical attitude on the cutter head 4. A cutter shaft 6 is connected in a coaxial state to a lower side of the wave reduction gear 5 and is rotated and driven by the wave reduction gear 5. An output shaft 2a of the cutter shaft driving motor 2 is connected and fixed in a coaxial state to an upper side of the wave reduction gear 5. The cutter shaft driving motor 2 is elevated integrally with the cutter head 4.
