To improve the dimensional accuracy of long members of predetermined dimensions when the long members are sequentially formed by sequentially cutting long members fed out continuously.

This cutting device 1 comprises: a movable base 18 reciprocatingly movable A, B forward; a chuck device 20 supported on the movable base 18 and capable of holding C and unholding a part 19 of the long member 2 in the longitudinal direction; a cutter 21 supported on the movable base 18, disposed near the rear of the chuck device 20, and cutting the long member 2; and a pneumatic cylinder 23 capable of biasing the movable base 18 forward. While the chuck device 20 holds C the part 19 of the long member 2 in the longitudinal direction of the long member, the air cylinder 23 biases the movable base 18 forward to prevent the portion 29 of the long member 2 extending from a feeder 7 to the part 19 of the long member 2 from being loosened for reciprocatingly moving A the movable base 18. During the movement A of the movable base 18, the portion 29 of the long member 2 is cut by the cutter 21.
