Abstract:
PURPOSE: To reduce the sectional area of a valve seat part by a method wherein the valve seat part and a cylinder head body are metallurgically joined together without forming a molten metal reaction layer and through the metallurgical joining, a plastic deformation layer is formed in the cylinder head body side of a joining boundary face through metallurgical joining.
CONSTITUTION: A cylinder head body 1 has a cast texture formed of an aluminum alloy material and a valve seat part 2 is formed of an iron sintered alloy material. A joining boundary face 12 between the cylinder head body 1 and the valve seat part 2 is metallurgically joined together, and the part, along the joining boundary face 12, of the cylinder head 1 forms a plastic deformation layer 11 of an aluminum alloy. In the plastic deformation layer 11 on the cylinder head 1 side, the dendroid and columnar crystal of a cast texture is deformed and curved. Transition density is high due to transition introduced through deformation, hardness is high owing to processing curing. Further, in the valve seat part 2 side, unevenness does not occur to hardness distribution and a fine texture.
