Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a taphole for a melting furnace, which is free from problems related to attachment of slag and has good durability.
CONSTITUTION: The subject relates to a cylindrical refractory body 2 for a taphole, which forms a taphole 1 leading from inside a furnace to the outside and for carrying off molten iron from a melting furnace. The inner side of this cylindrical body 2, particularly on the side of the outside 4 of the furnace, is formed of a material with liability to fusion 7; the rest of it is of a material with good corrosion resistance 6.
