Abstract:

To effectively remove stain in dampening water used in offset printing while leaving required components therein.

Powdered silica, a cationic polymer coagulant, and an anionic polymer coagulant are added in this order to stained dampening water, and agitation is carried out after each addition. Thereby nonsticky strong flocs can be formed in an early stage to effectively remove stain while leaving the required components in the dampening water. The nonsticky strong flocs hardly generate clogging of a filter, which facilitates solid-liquid separation.
