Abstract:

To provide a means for preventing reading and corruption of data such as firmware by an unauthorized agent.

The data protection circuit selectively allows access to data stored in a storage location. Specifically, the circuit receives an authorization key and it allows access to the data only if the the authorization key equals a predetermined value. The data protection circuit can be disposed on a separate IC so that a storage location of the integrated circuit (the IC) not provided with a protection circuit can be protected.
