To provide a method and system which does not have complicatedness and a capacitive load inherent in a traditional network-based billing system, which is capable of accurate rating for packet data, and which is cost effective.
The present method monitors a series of events (i.e., setup event (1), start event (2), and termination event (3)). These occur in communication session. Monitoring of such event is achieved by a data rating application residing in a wireless device. Data rating application makes it possible to rate communication session using a plurality of rating methods by monitoring such an event. A selected rating method includes how data transmitted during data communication session are measured and how each rating applied to each measured increment is determined.
