A control means 36 switches a passage in which a cooling medium is circulated from a circulation pass 29 for cooling to a circulation pass 30 for heating for a predetermined time when the dehumidifying operation is started. Even if the high pressurized cooling medium fills a condenser 23 constituting the circulation pass 29 for cooling, the condenser 23 and an evaporator 26 communicate without the other constituting means and the high pressurized cooling medium is instantly withdrawn to the evaporator 26, therefore, the load burdened to the compressor 22 is significantly reduced and the operation can be re-started immediately after the termination of the operation of the dehumidifier.
