Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a dehydration foil for a paper making machine having a rigid foil body and improved so as for the foil angle to be quickly and accurately adjusted with a simple and trouble-free actuated mechanism.
CONSTITUTION: This dehydration foil apparatus is equipped with a cam actuated adjustment mechanism pivoting a rigid foil member 10 without bending it together with a front set of cam slots and cam follower pins in order to maintain the height of the leading edge of the foil member 10 substantially constant. The cam actuated adjustment mechanism includes a rear set of cam slots 21 and cam follower pins 18 connecting a foil support member 12 to a foil mounting base member 14 to pivot the support member 12 in response to longitudinal movement thereof for adjustment of the foil angle. The foil body 10 is made up with plural foil segments 11 made of ceramic or other hard, wear resistant material which are attached by tongue and groove connections and bonding adhesive 17 to the foil support member 12.
