Abstract:

PURPOSE: To easily and profitably obtain a monovinyl ether of a diol useful in the production of valuable radiation-curable polyurethane lacquer from a divinyl ether in a high selectivity.
CONSTITUTION: The objective compd. of formula III is advantageously obtd. by allowing a diol of formula I (where R1 and R3 is H, 1-20C alkyl or 3-10C cycloalkyl and R2 is 1-20C alkylene, 3-10C cycloalkylene, 7-12C aralkylene, phenylene or naphthylene) to react with a divinyl either of formula II (where R1-R3 preferably have the same meanings as R1-R3 in the formula I) in the presence of a compd. of a metal of the platinum group (preferably Pt, Pd, Rh, Ru or Ir, in particular Pd), preferably a salt or complex of the metal, in particular a chelate complex, e.g. phenanthroline palladium acetate at a temperature of -40 to +150°C, preferably 0-100°C and under an atmospheric pressure or elevated pressure, in particular the self-pressure of the reaction system.
