PURPOSE: A dermal drug for external use, containing one or two or more selected from a plant of the family Nymphaeceae which is a natural raw mate rial or an extract thereof and having improved preventing effect on heat after sunburn, barber's itch, skin roughening, etc.

CONSTITUTION: A dermal drug for external use obtained by incorporating powder prepared by powdering a plant of the family Nymphaeceae, e.g. Nuphar japonicum DC. (nuphar rhizome), Nuphar pumilum Smith, Nelumnbo nucifera Gaertn., Brasenia Schreberi J.F. Gmel., etc., or extract obtained by extracting the plant with a solvent, e.g. water, methanol or ethanol, in an amount of 0.001W5wt%, based on the total weight of the dermal drug for external use, dried rhizome or 0.005W10wt% (0.0001W0.2wt% expressed in terms of the weight of the dried material), more preferably 0.01W5wt% (0.0005W0.1wt% expressed in terms of the weight of the dried material), based on the total weight of the dermal drug for external use, rhizome extract with other components. The drug may assume the dosage form, e.g. facial dermal drug for external use such as toilet water, milky lotion, cream or pack, foundation, dispersion, ointment, etc.
