To prevent a developer or a developing solution containing a reduction compound from being deteriorated due to air oxidation by incorporating water- soluble antioxidizing agent containing a component as an effective component extracted from a natural material.
This developer or this developing solution for a silver halide photographic sensitive material contains one or more kinds of water-soluble antioxidizing agent making a component extracted from natural materials as an effective component and at least one or more kinds of reduction compounds. The water-soluble antioxidizing agent making the component extracted from the natural materials as the effective component are substances extracted from seeds of a pumpkin, grapes and sunflowers and coffee beans, unripe apples, tea, and the other plants. The sunflower seeds belong to Compositae family, sunflower genus and they are mainly used for a raw material of sunflower oil for cakes and pet foods. Especially preferably compounds among the reduction compounds are ascorbic acids and or iso-ascorbic acid.
