To attain a device for dental scaling and disinfection which is given consideration for hot sterilization treatment by means of an autoclave or others and, besides, excels in operability.
Dental calculus is crushed by transmitting ultrasonic vibrations generated by an ultrasonic generating means 12 to the tip part of a probe 20 from a holder 10, and disinfection is performed by supplying a disinfecting liquid supplied by a liquid supply means to a tooth part from the tip part of the probe and by conducting light from a light source device 60 by a light guide 22 and radiating it to the supplied disinfecting liquid so as to generate a hydroxy radical. The probe 20 is made from a hard metal material and shaped like a hollow tube and can be attached removably in a watertight manner to the holder 10. The light guide 22 is replaceable and made from resin having a higher refractive index than the disinfecting liquid, and it has a circular section of a diameter made smaller from the incidence side toward the injection side and is fitted in the probe with play. The diameter on the incidence end side is ≥0.7 to ≤3 mm.
