This device for detecting wheel air pressure includes wheel information detecting sections 2 that are attached to the two wheels T arranged in the longitudinal direction of the vehicle and detect and transmit the rotation speed and air pressure of the two wheels T, respectively, and a wheel position specifying section 14 for specifying the positions of the vehicle width direction of four wheels T and the positions of the vehicle longitudinal direction of the two wheels T arranged in the vehicle longitudinal direction. The wheel position specifying section 14 has a wheel longitudinal position specifying section that compares the rotation speeds of the two wheels T and specifies the wheel T having higher rotation speed per unit time among the two wheels T as the wheel T positioned forward in the vehicle longitudinal direction than the other wheel T.
