The device of monitoring an exhaust gas duct which monitors the inside of the exhaust gas duct 10 provided on the side of a slag outlet port 31 of a melting furnace 30 is configured so that a transparent window (inspection window) 12 above a vertically erected part 10a of an exhaust gas duct 10 which communicates with the slag outlet port 31; at least a duct region from the height of the slag outlet port to the lower portion thereof, among the vertically erected part 10a, is defined as a field-of-view range 21; and an infrared camera 20 which can pick up images is arranged outside the transparent window 12.
