PURPOSE: To make easier the operation separating from and bringing alangside to a ship with lesser labors by a method in which plural nozzles are provided at the front of a sharf, and the ship is separated from the sharf by jetting water from the nozzles or brought alongside the wharf by sucking up water from the nozzles.
CONSTITUTION: When a ship 1 is brought alnogisde a sharf, pumps 6 and 6' are turned by motors 7 and 7', and water is sucked up from nozzles 3 in opened state and then discharged to water conduit ports 4 and 4', whereupon the flow of water is directed to the front 2' of a wharf and thereby the ship 1 comes into alongside the wharf 2. Also, when the ship 1 is separted from the wharf, water is sucked up from the water conduit ports 4 and 4' and discharged from the nozzes 3 to the ship 1, whereupon the flow of water is directed from the front 2' of the wharf to offing, and thereby the ship 1 is separated from the wharf 2.
