Title:
REINFORCING WORK FOR RECLAMATED GROUND
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS58222209
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To increase the bearing force of the reclamated ground as well as prevent the liquefaction of the ground by a method in which a water-permeable reinforcing material is buried in packed substance, e.g., soil and sand, dumped in a place to be reclamated.

CONSTITUTION: Coal cinder 4, etc., discharged from heat power plants are dumped in a dumping site 2 isolated from the ocean S by a revertment 3. Then, a reinforcing material 5 formed by packing coarse grains 10, e.g., gravel, sand or bottom ash, into a ipy cloth bag 9 reinforced with stainless steel wires 11 is buried in the coal cinder 4 at intervals of 1W2m, and the ends of them are connected to a drain trench 12. By this, a storng resistance is produced even against strong shearing forces resulting from vertical loads encountered when a building is constructed on the ground E and thereby the bearing force is increased. Since water is discharged through the water-permeable reinforing material 5, the level of groundwater is lowered and the liquefaction of the ground is also be prevented.
