PURPOSE: To achieve the reduction of dialytic power and the enhancement of dialytic capacity, by suppressing the generation of air bubbles by adding a defoaming agent to a dialytic solution.
CONSTITUTION: In a dialytic apparatus wherein a large number of ion exchange membranes are arranged, a defoaming agent is added to a dialytic solution supplied to the apparatus. As the defoaming agent, a silicone type or sorbitan fatty acid ester type nonionic surfactant is used. The addition amount thereof is adjusted to such a ratio that the concn. thereof in the dialytic solution is about 5W100ppm in continuous addition. By this method, the generation of air bubbles in the dialytic solution can be suppressed and air bubbles in a dialytic chamber, especially, in meshes of a spacer can be easily removed. Therefore, dialytic power can be reduced and the recovery rate of an acid can be enhanced.
