The diesel engine includes: a thermoacoustic engine 20 including a heater 23, a cooler 24, a regenerator 22, a resonance tube 21, and a working fluid G; an EGR gas cooling mechanism cooling the EGR gas Ge by introducing it to the heater 23; a heat dissipation mechanism cooling the cooler 24 to radiate the heat received from the EGR gas Ge to the outside of the system of the thermoacoustic engine 20; and a cooling enhancement mechanism including an electric power generation mechanism 12 converting vibration energy of self-excited vibration of the working fluid G of the thermoacoustic engine 20 to electric energy and directly or indirectly enhancing the release of heat in the cooler 24 of the thermoacoustic engine 20 using the electric energy generated by the electric power generation mechanism 12.
