To provide a method for fabricating a dihedral corner reflector array optical element having cylindrical bodies projecting from a substrate surface, easy to be taken out of a stamper after molding, and capable of imaging a clear image.
The dihedral corner reflector array optical element includes a substrate 60 molded by transparent material and a plurality of cylindrical bodies 51 projecting from a joint flat surface in the surface of the substrate. Each cylindrical body 51 has a truncated frustum trapezoidal shape in which two orthogonal side surfaces 61a, 61b as a dihedral corner reflector 61 and side surfaces 62a, 62b other than the dihedral corner reflector are tapered flat surfaces. An injection molding method includes a process for preparing a mold which makes an edge side area of each cylindrical body smaller than a substrate side area and carrying out mold clamping, a process for filling the mold with melt resin while keeping temperature of the mold at predetermined temperature or higher, a process for cooling the mold at predetermined temperature or lower after filling the mold with the resin, and a process for releasing the dihedral corner reflector array optical element obtained after cooling the resin.
