Abstract:
PURPOSE: To realize the directional coupler with a small size by reducing the occupied area.
CONSTITUTION: First to 3rd conductor plates 21, 22, 23 are arranged in parallel and rectangular dielectric strips 24, 25 are interposed to the middle of the conductors 21, 22, 23 between the conductors 21 and 22 and between the conductors 22 and 23 in a way that each electric field plane is in common to form two sets of NRD lines. Then plural (e.g. 2) slots 26a, 26b are provided to the 2nd conductor plate 22 located between the dielectric strips 24, 25 at an interval of 1/4 wavelength along the lengthwise direction of the dielectric strips 24, 25 to form the directional coupler. The width of the slots 26a, 26b is sufficiently smaller than the width of the dielectric strips 24, 25. Then one-side ends of the dielectric strips 24, 25 are used for ports P1, P2 and the other side ends are used for ports P3, P4.
