PURPOSE: To obtain a disazo dye with good all-round fastness suitable for printing of a cellulose-containing material, especially cotton and staple fiber by diazotizing an arylamine to give a dichlorotriazine dye and reacting this dye with phenylene diamine, cyanuric chloride and an amine.

CONSTITUTION: There is provided a new disazo dye represented by formula I. In the formula, n represents 0, 1 or 2; D represents phenyl or the like; R1, R2 and R3 represent each H or a 1-4C alkyl; Z represents chloro or NR4R5 (wherein R4 is H, a 1-4C alkyl or the like); and Q represents formula II or the like. The disazo dye of formula I is obtained, for example, by a process comprising steps: diazotizing an aryl amine of the formula: D-NH2, coupling to a compound of formula III in an acidic medium, removing a benzoyl group to obtain an intermediate of formula IV, reacting this intermediate with a diazonium salt derived from triazinylaniline to give a dichlorotriazine dye of formula V, reacting this stepwise with phenylenediamine, cyanuric chloride and an amine of formula IV.
