Abstract:
To provide a device and method with which it is possible to measure the amount of wavelength dispersion of a measurement object with good accuracy.SOLUTION: A dispersion measuring device 1A comprises a pulse formation unit 3, a light detection unit 4, and a computation unit 5b. The pulse formation unit 3 has a SLM for presenting a phase pattern that adds a prescribed per-wavelength phase shift to a light pulse Pa and forms, from the light pulse Pa, a light pulse train Pb that includes light pulses Pb1, Pb2 having a mutual time difference and mutually differing in center wavelength. The light detection unit 4 detects a time waveform of the light pulse train Pb. The computation unit 5b is electrically connected to the light detection unit 4. An optical component 7 is arranged on the optical path between the pulse formation unit 3 and the light detection unit 4. The computation unit 5b estimates the wavelength dispersion amount of the optical component 7 on the basis of the feature quantity of the time waveform. The phase pattern of the SLM includes a pattern for adding, to the light pulse Pa, a group delay dispersion which is of the reverse sign to the group delay dispersion of the optical component 7.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
