Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device having excellent visibility from contrast by a retroreflective structure and an electrophoretic medium in a day time to be a source of strong light such as sun light and capable of displaying a display having excellent visibility by retroreflecting light from a visual recognition side at night and capable of exerting a line of sight guidance effect through display switching by an electrophoretic medium.SOLUTION: A display device A includes: a pair of substrates 10, 11 opposing to each other with at least one of the substrates having light translucency; and electrodes 12, 12 for applying an electric field to an electrophoretic medium provided between the substrates 10, 11 of the pair of substrates, while an electrophoretic medium 20 including electrophoretic particles 25 and a retroreflective structure 30 are encapsulated between the pair of substrates 10, 11, and blocking light that reaches the retroreflective structure 30 freely by the electrophoretic medium 20.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
