Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable accurate measurement of the temperature, strain, etc., of a structural member having an arbitrary shape, by providing an optical fiber on the structural member by bending the fiber in many times thereon, and by detecting physical quantities of the structural member by this optical fiber. CONSTITUTION:On the surface of a molded material 1, an optical fiber 2 is wound round at equal intervals and a sensor element 14 is constructed thereof. A carbon fiber layer 3 is formed thereon, a resin layer 4 is further formed on the layer by coating and a resin coat layer 5 is formed in the uppermost part, so that a wing element 6 be constructed. When a laser light of high output and narrow pulse width is applied as a repeated pulse into the optical fiber 2 by a light source 7, the pulse enters the sensor element 14. In this sensor element 14, a Raman scattering light composed of a Stokes light and an anti- Stokes light is generated, the respective light intensities of these lights are detected by a detecting element 8, and in a signal processing element 9, the ratio between the two lights is determined and compared with a characteristic table of a back Raman scattering light. Thereby temperatures at many points in the wing element 6 can be determined.
