To suppress a variation in an effect of a document pressing member pressing down documents.SOLUTION: A document transport device 120 includes: a paper feed tray 44 on which documents G are stacked; an ejection tray 43 provided below the paper feed tray 44; a transport mechanism 32 that transports the documents G from the paper feed tray 44 to the ejection tray 43 through a reading position (opening 40A); and a document holding member 21 provided on a lower surface of the paper feed tray 44, expands and contracts in a direction approaching and separating from the ejection tray 43, and presses down the documents G ejected to the ejection tray 43.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 15
