Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To cause a proper automatic gap adjustment at all times without generating the deviation in printing gap adjustment due to the alteration of the width of a printing paper, the indentation of a printing head, the blot of ink and the like when the printing head of wide width is used as a paper width sensor for the printing gap adjustment as a dot line printer.
SOLUTION: When a printing head 2 is moved relatively in the gap direction by a gap adjustment mechanism 11 for the purpose of adjusting a gap between the printing head 2 and a printing paper 1, the printing head 2 is pressed to a part on the surface of a platen 4 on the printing paper 1 by utilizing the gap adjustment mechanism 11. The relative movement amount of the printing head required for the gap adjustment is computed by sensing the thickness of the printing paper by a control section 16 based on the pressing position, and the pressing force is set variably in compliance with the width of the printing paper.
