To provide a double layer fabric for papermaking capable of reducing internal friction and preventing abrasion and breaking of binding yarns by improving degree of adhesion between fabrics of papermaking side and running side without influencing surface properties of paper produced by papermaking.

The double layer fabric 1 for papermaking of this invention comprises a fabric layer 2 of papermaking face side made of polyester monofilaments woven by using a warp yarn 21 on the papermaking face side and a weft yarn 22 on the papermaking face side, a running face side fabric layer 3 woven by using a warp yarn 31 on the running face side made of the polyester monofilaments and a weft yarn 32 on the running face side made of alternately blended polyester monofilaments with nylon monofilaments in the number ratio of 1:1 and binding yarns 4. The two layers are integrated to be one body by mutually binding the aforesaid woven layer 2 on the papermaking face side with the woven fabric 3 on the running face side which are complete tissue fabrics. The diameter of the aforesaid binding yarn 4 is 86-120% of that of the weft yarn 32 on the papermaking face side.
