Title:
DRIVING METHOD OF ELECTROLUMINESCENT ELEMENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3861743
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize high reliability and the long life of an electroluminescent element in the electroluminescent element by applying an optimized driving waveform to the element when driving it actually.
SOLUTION: In the electroluminescent element in which a layer having a light emitting area is provided between an anode and a cathode, when the waveform of a bipolar type is applied to the element as a driving waveform per one picture display period, one picture display period is divided into a period when the element is made to emit light and a period when the element does not emit light and a waveform (a current or a voltage) such that an electric field opposite to an electric field which is generated in the period when the element is made to emit light is applied to the element in a non-light emitting period and also the integration intensity in which a voltage value and an application time of a light emitting period are multiplied and the integration intensity in which a voltage value and an application time of the non-light emitting period are multiplied are set so as to be in harmony with each other (the difference between them becomes zero) in the light emitting period and in the non-light emitting period.
