PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving method for a stepping motor for carriage in which noise reduction and energy saving are realized while suppressing excess torque of the stepping motor for carriage at the time of dynamic division printing.
SOLUTION: When a drive signal to a stepping motor 7 for carriage being driven in correspondence with divided conduction to heating elements is in an active period, that active pulse is subdivided.
