Title:
DRIVING PULSE CONTROL DEVICE FOR PDP DISPLAY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2994631
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To adjust brightness of an image plane continuously bright and make the change of brightness unnoticeable by changing driving pulse not only by integer times but also by a multiple of value including a decimal point for adjustment.
SOLUTION: R, G, B signals after inverse gamma correction are sent to a peak level detector 26 and an average level detector 28. The peak level detector 26 detects the brightest value in one field, and the average level detector 28 obtains the average value of brightness in one field. An image feature judging element 30 receives an average level Lav and a peak level Lpk and determines four parameters: the N-times mode value N, a fixed-times coefficient A of a multiplier, the number Z of subfields and the number K of gradation display points by a combination of the average level and peak level using a prestored map. Brightness can therefore be continuously changed, and there is no sense of incongruity even if brightness changes.
