Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driving support device for facilitating communication by eye contact or gesture if a situation occurs where a driver of an own vehicle intends to give way to another vehicle or a pedestrian.SOLUTION: An in-cabin information sensor group 6 includes an in-cabin illuminance sensor which detects the brightness in a cabin. A driver visual recognition support ECU 2 determines if a situation occurs where a driver of an own vehicle intends to give way to another vehicle or a pedestrian and furthermore executes control of illuminating the driver of the own vehicle when detecting that the brightness in the cabin is a prescribed reference value or less. Thereby, a driver of the other vehicle or the pedestrian can visually recognize the driver of the own vehicle because the driver of the own vehicle is illuminated automatically when the cabin is dark and it is difficult for the driver of the other vehicle or the pedestrian to see the driver of the own vehicle. Therefore, the driver of the own vehicle can directly transmit his/her intention to the driver of the other vehicle or the pedestrian by eye contact or gesture.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
