Abstract:
To enable a driver to determine whether or not to make an own vehicle pass (linearly travel) or to avoid the pass without making the driver upset even if an unidentifiable obstacle is detected in front, at automatic drive in a second drive support mode in which the driver is not required to hold a steering wheel.SOLUTION: A drive support device has, as drive modes of an own vehicle M, a first drive support mode for performing automatic drive on condition that a driver holds a steering wheel, and a second drive support mode for performing the automatic drive on condition that the driver does not hold the steering wheel. When a camera unit 21 recognizes an unidentifiable obstacle in front at traveling in the second drive support mode, a drive mode setting calculation part 11 notifies the driver that the driver should hold the steering wheel via a notification device 37. By receiving the notification, the driver becomes liable to gaze a front part by gripping the steering wheel, and can exactly determine whether or not to pass or to avoid the pass.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
