To provide a drying device for a printed matter capable of slowly drying printing ink, reducing generation of wrinkles and odor, and saving a space by applying a vertical constitution as a whole.

A face for allowing a sheet to slide in the inverted U-shape, is formed at a lower side of a heating means, and rollers for applying proper tension to the sheet are mounted on lower portions at both ends of the face, thus the vertical space-saving-type device can be provided. As the printed sheet is alternately reciprocated to right and left rollers several times, the whole face of the sheet can be uniformly and completely dried without unevenness in drying, and the generation of bad smell and discoloring in an early time caused by incomplete drying can be prevented. Further the generation of wrinkles caused by unevenness in heating the sheet can be prevented by keeping a constant clearance between the heating means and the sliding face.
