Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a method for drying a timber and a method for improving the permeability in which the dryness and the chemical permeability of the timber such as a Japanese cedar or a conifer are improved, the operation is simple and the running cost is low.
CONSTITUTION: A method for drying a timber comprises the steps of fixing the timber in a chamber 20 formed in a sealed pressure-resistant vessel 1, press injecting compressed air or compressed gas obtained from a vessel 7 from one side of the vessel 1 to the butt end face and the periphery of the timber, and auxiliarily sucking from the other side of the vessel 1 by a vacuum pump 13, thereby forcibly dehydrating the free water contained in the timber. Further, a method for improving the permeability of the timber comprises the steps of disposing a heat source 2 on the outer periphery of the vessel 1, and press injecting and sucking compressed gas while heating the vessel 1 by the source 2 or introducing steam.
