PURPOSE: To improve dust collection efficiency of an electric dust collector consisting of a plane dust-collecting electrode and dischage electrodes, and to prevent dust from rescattering, by providing a projection, which projects into a dust-collecting space, at a specified position of the dust-collecting electrode.
CONSTITUTION: An electric dust collector consists of a dust-collecting electrode 1" as a counter one, and discharge electordes 2 provided in the flow direction G of dust; and the dust-collecting electrode 1" consists of two stuck flat plates, and projections 5 projecting into a dust-collecting space are provided at intermediate positions between the discharge electrodes 2. A circle (b) having the discharge electrode 2 as a ceter is nearly circumscribed with the dust-collecting electrode 1" and its projections 5. Namely, the entire region of the dust-collecting electrode 1" is at substantially equal distance from the discharge electrodes 2, so superior discharge characteristics are obtained and the area wherein current density decreases on the dust-collecting electrode 1" is minimized. Thus, the dust collection efficiency is improved and the dust is prevented from rescattering from the dust-collecting electrode 1".
