To provide an electric power steering device capable of efficiently carrying out the inspection with excellent accuracy by setting unnecessary control means and functions built in the electric power steering device to be invalid in advance in the performance inspection of the electric power steering device in a manufacturing line, and suppressing the production cost.
The electric power steering device comprises a motor drive control unit consisting of a plurality of control means for performing the drive control of a motor for giving the auxiliary steering force to a steering mechanism, a failure diagnosis unit consisting of a plurality of failure diagnosis means for diagnosing presence/absence of any failure of each part, and a mask function unit for selectively invalidating the control means and the failure diagnosis means, and has a function for setting any unnecessary control means and failure diagnosis means to be invalid by the mask function unit by inputting the inspection mode signal from an inspection device during the inspection using the inspection device.
