To provide one technique for detecting malfunction of a current sensor itself for measuring input and output currents of a battery on an electric vehicle provided with a drive motor.
The electric vehicle 100 includes the battery 5 for storing electric power supplied to the drive motor 12, the current sensor 6 for measuring the input and output currents of the battery 5, and a controller 4 for checking the state of the current sensor 6. The controller 4 monitors a measured value IB of the current sensor 6 in a period when an electric motor 12 for power generation is stopped, which is a period when a main switch 3 of the vehicle, which is provided on a driver's seat, is switched on, determines that malfunction occurs in the sensor when the measured value IB indicates a current made to flow toward the battery 5, and outputs data indicating it to at least one of a display and a memory 2. Furthermore, "the electric motor for power generation" may be also used as "the drive motor", and may be "the electric motor for power generation only".
