To provide an electronic apparatus, along with a method of controlling the same, capable of improving an estimate accuracy of a next estimated moving speed in a moving object, and capable of driving a driver at a more appropriate timing, when the moving speed of the moving object is estimated for each predetermined interval.
When a position of a carriage at the present time is within a reference edge region (Step S14 is negative), an acceleration DVc is calculated based on a present moving speed Vc(m) and the previous moving speed Vc(m-1) (Step S16). When the position at the present time is within the entire edge region (Step S14 is affirmative), the acceleration DVc is calculated based on the present moving speed Vc(m) and the previous target speed Vt(m-1) (Step S22). The next estimated moving speed Vs of the carriage is calculated based on the acceleration DVc and the present movement speed Vc(m) (Step S23), and a delay setting value KD to adjust a drive timing of a recording head is calculated based on the next estimated moving speed Vs (Step S24).
