The electronic device for the vehicle is provided with acceleration sensors 1-9 mounted on the vehicle and outputting a discrimination signal; and ECU 10 for determining whether or not installing positions of the respective sensors 1-9 in the vehicle are correct using the discrimination signal. The acceleration sensors 1-9 output at least one of self-diagnosis output, i.e., an inherent output value and offset output, i.e., an inherent output value to the ECU 10 as at least a part of the discrimination signal.
