Abstract:
An electrotherapeutic apparatus comprises an elongate dispersive electrode (1) carrying a wide electrode plate (2). A stretchable belt (4) is attached to both ends of the dispersive electrode (1), and a low-frequency generator (11, 12) is carried on the outer side of the dispersive electrode (1). A supporting spring arm (8) carried by the dispersive electrode (1) supports an active electrode (5) which is covered by an absorbent material (7). The low- frequency generator (11, 12) is electrically coupled to the two electrodes (1, 5) and can be arranged to apply electric current to a patient's scalp. This has been found to promote the metabolism of the scalp and the restoration of fatigue. Use of the apparatus with an aminovinyl photosensitizing dye has been found to be effective in accelerating the growth and regeneration of hair.
